The Puritii Multi-Effect Air Purifier, like most other electronic appliances, produces a very small amount of ozone that is far below established limits. The Ionizer in the Puritii Multi-Effect Air Purifier should not be confused with an ozone generator - the Ionizer produces negatively charged particles (ions), whereas ozone generators produce ozone (O3) in large quantities that can be irritating to your throat and lungs. The Ionizer is safe to use at all times, whether you are at home or not.
"As reported in the Puritii Multi-Effect Air Purifier White Paper, the ozone emission of the air purifier is less than 0.003 mg/m3. One mg/m3 is roughly equivalent to one part per billion (ppb). Thus, the value of ozone generated is less than 3 parts per trillion versus a standard of not more than 100 ppt, representing a negligible quantity.
